Barrett Zheng: Complain to the technician's employer
Carli Watterson: In order to connect the digital phone service to your phone jacks, the outside land-line must first be disconnected (even if it is currently inactive) otherwise you can potentially cause damage to the telephone equipment at either end.Usually you would simply disconnect the land-line from the telephone interface box outside of your home, but if the technician could not find the box, or your home was of an older design, the technician may have resulted to cutting the wire to be safe. Even so, the technician probably should not have done this, especially without informing you....Show more
Michelle Sohre: It is kind of a sneaky thing to do if he/she didn't inform you of this. It may be they want to keep you as a customer. When you find out the cost of re-wiring for a new land line phone, you'll decide to stay digital.
Willetta Munhall: if you are talking about VoIP service... or cable tel! ephone service... wow.. the tech actually did the right thing, and disconnected the wiring going out to the PSTN if he did not remove or disconnect the wiring going out to the PSTN then your VoIP/digital voice dial tone would be being back fed onto the telephone companies network... and could have easily damaged the equiptment inside of your home if the telephone company ever applied voltage to the pair (perhaps there was already voltage on the pair that he needed to remove) or from a lightning strike... now for the FiOS techs.. that is a different story... they cut the copper drop going to any building that they install FiOS on - EVEN drops that have ACTIVE service on them... I have had to send verizon out to quite a few of our customers homes to replace a drop wire that they cut, either because our customer ordered FiOS or someone else in the same building ordered it, and they cut out all of the copper......Show more
Terresa Tsasie: land-line is an everlasting conne! ction. As such, VoIP isn't landline, considering if the potent! ial is going out, so does the telephone provider. no longer a super deal those days interior the age of cellular telephones with batteries. yet regardless. in case you have accepted telephone provider, no longer VoIP by using a cable or cyber web provider, your telephone will paintings with out potential (Assuming you're utilising a accepted under pressure out telephone). that's a land-line in that is truest variety....Show more
May Stands: Those are the idiots we try to never let come into the premise :-)My favorite is the guy who I told to mount a block in a certain location. He didn't. I gave him five minutes before I pushed him out of the way and moved his equipment. You only get one chance to screw things up and then it's my job to make it work. He tried to tell me it was "phone company" property. Yeah, and the phone board you mount your equipment on is MY property. He should not have cut the wire, but disconnected it at the point of termination so you coul! d go back to what you had. With luck, you won't want to go back, or there will be enough excess wire to reterminate the old service again....Show more
