Lorelei Lilburn: Doesn't bother me a bit.
Michal Semple: as long as its feee like mines grocearys im ok with it.
Jeremy Donohue: Obama's plan is voluntary....so don't send your child if you don't want them to be in preschool. http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/PreK-12Educa...
Brock Hladik: I haven't heard anyone argue for Mandatory preschool and don't believe anyone will, but it would be really nice if those parents who thought that preschool would be good for their kids could put their kids in preschool without breaking the bank.
Stanton Villao: Yes. It's a precursor to things like the "Obama Youth"
Floyd Labuda: Universal preschool, I dont have a problem with. Mandatory? Yes. So many children are having so much shoved down their throats at such a young age. What ever happened to recess and coloring books. I dont think our youth are at an advantage by having their childhood robbed and putting the weight of the world on their shoulders. ! p>
Hilton Paiva: Actually, I've worked in low-income preschools, and volunteered in day-cares for low-income (or NO income) families. We focused on health concerns. The universal preschools that I've been reading about would be focusing on education. Big difference.
Mitchell Pickens: I, for one, will not send my children to government-run schools at any grade. Preschool-age children need to play, run around outside, be naturally curious, and learn by exploring- not sit in a classroom.Additionally- it is another excuse for sending even more money to schools who already have too much money. What schools and students to not have is enough parental involvement; lazy parents simply want to send their kids away to be taught by the government with their involvement being little more than reviewing arbitrary grades on a report card a few times a year. There isn't an age which needs more parental involvement than the preschool age....Show more
Ollie Hamiel: Many ! states have mandatory preschool. I don't agree with it, but p! reschool has been shown to increase intelligence in children. Education during the first five years of life determines what a child's IQ will be for the rest of their lives. There are tens of millions of poor people that lack proper parenting skills.
Justin Casten: What bothers me even more is the teachings of sex ed to 5yr olds!As a matter of fact, my husbands co-worker told about his 3 yr old daughter being in pre-school. He was giving her a bath one evening and out of no where she asked him if she could see his "Pee, Pee"!!!! He almost had a heart attack!!! Trying to find out where she would get such an idea they questioned her little without her feeling she did something wrong and found out her pre-school teacher was the cause! Go figure a Obama supporter! He has thankfully pulled his daughter out of pre-school and the teacher was fired and they're is a lawsuit in the process....Show more
Hal Palowoda: I'm not worried about it. It would seem to me that expos! ure to others accelerates rather than retards children in their socialization skills.
Bailey Lares: I for one will not be sending my children to Preschool.
Barton Slisz: what the big deal?my son goes to preschool and enjoys it! kids need to start learning as soon as possible...........especially growing up in this world, you need education
Foster Koopmann: Universal preschool is only a step away from mandatory preschool. Studies show that any benefit from preschool is gone by 4th grade. And as for social experiences... young children learn from watching their parents and other adults, not from being in social situations. As for "current America"... there are many people struggling to have one parent at home with their children at all times because they believe this is the best situation. I know several parents who have caring, stable family members provide care. And then I know several in-home day-care which have 2-4 kids, and a lot of one on one time.! I'm not convinced preschool could do a better job than people who lov! e the child...http://www.commonwealthfoundation.org/commentary/s...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou5eVl5eqtg
Elva Batie: Government workers teaching kids songs about our benevolent government leaders?Naw, doesn't bother me a bit.
Serena Doak: if barry has anything to say about whats taught at the schools yep plenty worried
Brock Hladik: All depends on the purpose. An academic preschool is a waste of time because of the studies you cite - by age 8 or 9 preschool advantages are erased. If the purpose is to acculturate the child into a school setting, allow them to enjoy school, demystify school for the child/parents and teach the social skills (e.g. bathroom use/hygiene) that are required for successful school participation then I am all for it. Unless you have been in a preschool you really (not trying to insult here) do not have a clue what some children live like. Candy for breakfast, living in dirt, no guidance (& I mean none), abuse and ignorance are t! he sum total of their lives. We can do better....Show more
Cliff Tyre: I go to a school that is small , and we have a small budget, our town only has 346 people, and it would cost our school too much money to have to build a preeschool with a fenced in playground. To me I wouldnt like it if that got passed.
Antone Youla: i am opposed to government involvement in education at all levels, the minimally obnoxious option is a voucher systemi am less opposed to public funding of education than i am opposed to public administration of education...Show more
Jed Mutone: Not really an issue in todays world. Most parents are forced to put their kids in daycare which is about the same to have time to work their job or jobs.
