Should higher education be offered to all for free?

Donte Liversedge: If everyone gets a degree, who's going to do all the jobs that don't require a degree? People will feel entitled to better opportunities that can't be fulfilled.Plus this is expensive.

Francisco Schonhardt: While it sounds wonderful to offer a free education to everyone, it is not workable in the US. Since the US started giving out grants and loans for education the price for it has quadrupled. The colleges think it is their right to do fantastic building projects and pay administrators huge salaries. It is often pointed out that some countries (not many) have free education for everyone. If you look at their statistics not a large percent of the population actually qualifies for the free education. I know a family who are from Denmark and live in the US. The oldest boy decided he wanted to go to college in Denmark. He spoke Danish and was a citizen. He could not go b! ecause he did not qualify....Show more
