Sharron Salin: the title is in my name, but he still holds onto it until i get the car paid off. he is just a leinholder
Sheldon Lally: the car is not yet paid off, but is it legal for him to keep the car if i am not in default of the contract?
Carter Edstrom: Where's the title? Hmmm? You haven't given us enough information to answer this question, dear. You gotta tell us where the title is, and whose name is on it.
Alisia Sutphen: can he refuse to give the car back? im not behind on my payments or anything....this doesnt make sense.
Eleni Mccier: the car lot does in house financing. the car is registered in my name, and i have the contracts. i dont have the title yet.
Rose Krouse: not if you have the title to the car. he can not sell the car without the title to it....unless you sign it over to him. if he never presented you with a title and you have the paperwork, then you tell him you want your title or you will sue. hope you have re! ceipts?
Chris Wilczewski: if the title isnt in your name then however holds the title owns that car even if your paying for it
Kaylee Schmittou: if you don't take him his money he can put a lien on it and then end up with the car in lou of payment.
Antonia Quinnett: I would double check your local laws, but I do think he has that right. When a mechanic has a car and an outstanding amount of money is owed on the bill, the mechanic may have the option to repossess the vehicle if the bill is not paid. If you do not want your car sold, you have two options:1) Pay the bill by Monday2) If you feel the mechanic is being unreasonable and/or you are being ripped off, you can take him to civil court. ...Show more
Elbert Donatelli: he can't do it. The dealer has no right on the vehicle. It's your asset, and the only one who can take it from you is the bank if you took out a loan. You can get the law involved.
