May Stands: like tex said wine can be made using any fruit that has sugar in it. The yeast converts the sugars into alcohol releasing CO2 in the process which must be allowed to escape while keeping outside air/dust from getting in and possibly contaminating it . A simple clean plastic food grade bucket [5-6 gal] with a snug lid will work. Put a light weight [e.g. a liter bottle of water] on top of the lid to keep air out but when CO2 pressure arises it will easily push its' way out. You can add sugar to the brew to make it stronger. Each pound per 6 gal mix equals about 1% more alcohol. As the sugars convert, sediment settles out and the wine should get clearer. Use brewing yeast, it's cheap about $1 and available at grocery store. Bayanus is good for wine. After 5-10 days in the bucket at around 70F/22C [room temp. or a little warmer] most the sugars are gone so pour it gently into another clean bucket leaving the sediment residue behind. You can then let it settle and! mature a few more days before pouring it into bottles [clean juice and pop bottles work] with a pitcher and funnel. It will continue to settle and clarify in the bottles ....Show more
Hwa Waterford: beer is a pain to make but wine is surprisingly easy.I live in Tx n we have prickly pear cactus that put out a semi sweet fruit that turns purple when ripe. I have made GALLONS of wine from this fruit n not only is it tasty but potent like u wouldnt believe! point being that u can make wine out of any fruit or vegy from beets to your imagination.
Donovan Stallons: BEER - made from grainWINE - made from fruitSecondary fermentation in beer is a fermentaiton in either the barrel or the bottle that keeps the beer alive (rather than it being dead like in rubbish American "drink fresh" beer)...Show more
Lorelei Lilburn: Beer is made from barley, a grain, and wine is made from grape, a fruit. There are other differences, but that is the basic.
