Derick Kinnard: tomatoes are very good for u. i cant remember what its called but they can even help prevent cancer
Coleman Deliberato: The most significant benefit is lycopene, which is good for skin, and fights cancer and in large amounts, flush out free radicals. They also have a lot of vitamin A and C, good for eyes, skin, and hair. Tomatoes help to keep your blood sugar stable as well.Edit: They're not more nutritious when cooked, and I'd hate for you to ruin their nutritional value by cooking them!!! The reason people say there's "more lycopene in cooked tomatoes" is because it's relative to the density of the food- tomatoes lose their water-content when they're cooked, so there becomes "more" lycopene in less tomato. When foods are cooked, digestive enzymes are ruined and nutrients are decreased. Raw tomatoes are fantastic!: )...Show more
Josefine Weekey: It just feels right. I can't explain how wonderful it feels when your actions match your thoughts.
Len Bormes: I suddenly now like grape tomatoes when I never liked them when I was a kid. Are they good for something in your body? Possibly skin? Because I am going through horrible hormones.. :( :) I'm eating them like everyday now and for snacks during the summer. :D so.... :DDD
Rolanda Merritt: I just became a vegan a week ago and I am noticing lots of gas, but I also feel more energized.
Queenie Ruthers: I realized that I didn't have to feel lethargic after a meal! :) When I was a carnivore, I'd always lapse into food comas after eating, especially beef. Now it just gives me more energy, usually.
Kalyn Proietto: I like it. Keep in mind that there are substitutes out there for just about everything.
Clinton Migliori: they are super good.tons of vitamin c and tons of anti oxidants!good for you.only cut the part of the tomato that held the stem and the little ball on the other side!
Eliseo Luma: I've been a vegetarian for 10 years. Yo! u know, I felt more "in-tune" if that makes sense....kind of a! clearer view of things, and you know that "clean" feeling you felt, that also is something I felt, like you said ...hard to describe. I know it may sound silly, but I feel lighter...emotionally and pschyologically...too. Just knowing nothing had to die to feed me...great feeling, sin't it?
Sheree Hipwell: Within a week, I noticed that my mind was very clear and I felt more awake than I had in years. Big boost of energy early in the morning that would last all day, and my skin was glowing.
Somer Distilo: Challenging, but worth it. Eating all the healthy food alternatives without cheese and milk, and eggs and all their fat contained, my skin has cleared up a lot. It also helps open you up to new recipes and learning how to cook tons of yummy meals for yourself (in reply to the people whom have trouble eating out.) C: It's fun. And a very compassionate and unique diet. Worst that happens as said above, is you don't like it and return to vegetarianism....Show mor! e
Russ Kiernan: This is a question for vegans and vegetarians. Please share what was the first most noticable change after you decided to become a veg*n health-wise, psychologically or on any other level? My first impression when I became a vegan, maybe 1-2 weeks later, was a "clean" feeling. Like a clean body and mind. Hard to explain though... I'm interested in hearing if anyone had a similar experience....Show more
Kip Ockenfels: i am a vegetarian but have been gradually moving towards a vegan diet. i am basically cleaning out my fridge of animal products (by eating but not replacing them) and have noticed a "lighter" feeling. the main difference i have noticed is that i poo more. i no longer have to sit on the toilet for 10 or 20 minutes at a time, i am done quick. i havent had any tests done but my endurance has increased quicker than it should have by simply working out more.
Oswaldo Rayburn: PETA is linked to the terrorist organization ALF (Animal ! Liberation Front).I am an animal rights activist and a vegetarian (most! of the time my diet is vegan) but I CANNOT STAND PETA.They are terrorists! The Dalai Lama even swatted at mosquitoes! He's the leader of Buddhism and probably a vegan! I am SO SICK of people hating well-meaning vegetarians/ vegans because they think we're all like PETA.They throw pigs blood on people with fur for chrissake! They BOUGHT BLOOD THUS SUPPORTING THE VERY THING THEY ARE AGAINST....Show more
Abraham Ladick: I love grape tomatoes!! They are my favorite!!!It's good for the skin and immune system. Protects you from infections and germs. They are actually more nutritious when cooked, so add them in your pasta and soups!
Tillie Wynott: ugh they taste awfull... Unless its in ketchup form in which case i love to eat it with my chicken
Rocio Karvis: It's really not hard, and I feel a LOT healthier and better with how I eat. :)I'm 14 and vegan, by the way.I originally went vegetarian last summer and went vegan in March/April.
Inell Riesgo: The fi! rst thing I noticed was regularity, and a change in taste.
Len Dalba: Here's some detailed information i found on Tomotoes in Wikipedia. The ripe tomatoe has many powerful antioxidants and also contains lycopene which helps prevent many cancers. NutritionTomatoes are now eaten freely throughout the world, and their consumption is believed to benefit the heart, among other organs. They contain the carotene lycopene, one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. In some studies, lycopene, especially in cooked tomatoes, has been found to help prevent prostate cancer, but other research contradicts this claim. Lycopene has also been shown to improve the skin's ability to protect against harmful UV rays. A study done by researchers at Manchester and Newcastle universities revealed that tomato can protect against sunburn and help keeping the skin looking youthful. Natural genetic variation in tomatoes and their wild relatives has given a genetic plethora of genes that prod! uce lycopene, carotene, anthocyanin, and other antioxidants. Tomato var! ieties are available with double the normal vitamin C (Doublerich), 40 times normal vitamin A (97L97), high levels of anthocyanin (resulting in blue tomatoes), and two to four times the normal amount of lycopene (numerous available cultivars with the high crimson gene).Medicinal propertiesLycopene has also been shown to protect against oxidative damage in many epidemiological and experimental studies. In addition to its antioxidant activity, other metabolic effects of lycopene have also been demonstrated. The richest source of lycopene in the diet is tomato and tomato derived products. Tomato consumption has been associated with decreased risk of breast cancer, head and neck cancers and might be strongly protective against neurodegenerative diseases. ] Tomatoes and tomato sauces and puree are said to help lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH) and may have anticancer properties. Tomato consumption might be beneficial for reducing cardiovascular risk associated with type 2 diab! etes....Show more
Norine Lomonte: Veggies give me gas
Delphine Cajka: well it makes me feel good cz our body need lots of protein and being a vegan is great cz u can be fit
Corrina Faro: I realized that there are ways to live without taking life of someone.
Monty Sieloff: I love it. Being vegan requires me to read labels, which results in my eating significantly less sugar and other weird additives and things I can't pronounce, which improves my overall health. It's not that much of a stretch, really. Milk? Have almond milk instead. Cheese? Vegan cheeses are getting better and better. Eggs? Unnecessary. ;)One big variable is where you live. In Boulder, CO, where I live, there are plenty of options to eat out vegan and there are vegan substitutes in every grocery store. I have no problems when I travel to San Francisco. Rural South Dakota is a little harder, but I managed. Why not give it a shot? At worst, you just go back to being vegetarian....Show m! ore
Cody Petrulis: i felt more active i guess i had to quit frys ! and milk and cheese so i got skinnier which is a good thing even tho im not fat
Sheldon Lally: I've been vegan for well over 10 years, and vegetarian for the rest. It's really not too much different to me.. I never liked any of the dairy products by themselves, only if they were in things. For subs, you basically have to get used to no cheese.. it's the hardest thing to copy in the vegan world and most of it tastes like cardboard. Milk, most use soy milk.. though I find almond my favorite. Eggs- Tofu and this stuff called "egg replacer" works pretty well for replacing in vegetarian recipes. Chocolate is one of my weaker points though.. No replacement that I find to be as good. There's something called Carob, but I find it tastes like burnt beans. So I stick to dark chocolate that doesn't have any milk in it. Any more questions, let me know!...Show more
Hwa Waterford: it only sucks when you go out to eat...people need to be more accomadating. You're probably goin! g to end up with salad, that originally came with chicken :P most restaurants may have a vegetarian option, but not a vegan one.I went over to my grandparents house on Sunday and they were serving...pork, potato salad (mayo), cole slaw, cantelope, fruit salad (covered in jello!), chocolate cake, mac and cheese, and baked beans (...with pork). I don't like slaw (...and i don't even know if it's vegan?) so basically that leaves me with eating cantelope. that sucks.otherwise, I couldn't be happier (and have more energy!!!!!) and more proud of myself, sometimes it's a challenge but I'm proud that I'm strong enough to succeed at it :)...Show more
Cole Desher: It is a good feeling. It can in fact be a very healthy lifestyle. It is also very compassionate toward animals. Any organic food is usually healthy and cruelty-free. But, it's expensive. So, dairy, and eggs can be unhealthy and very cruel when conventional. It makes me feel like I am clean on the inside.
! Darnell Cutliff: Definitely feeling lighter. But also had to eat more ! to keep going. Taste buds change too- same as when you quit smoking- everything is more intense . Eye color changed. That was just when I turned plain vegetarian. When I became vegan- no milk - cheese-honey- eggs- personality change and much more energy. And less severe PMS.
Gladys Worthing: Great. Feel healthy and light.=)
Olin Hallin: I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just curious and would like to know what all the fuss is about.I would appreciate a nice, thorough answer. =]http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090618/ap_on_go_pr_wh...

Scot Rotruck: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice...This site is great for info & history on the food in ques! tion, especially nutrition wise & graphed.
Timmy Bustard: It's kind of hard sometimes and you can't eat out very much, but it's not too bad.
